Where to get VIDA?

Post by Faust »

I have decided that the time has come that I ought to have it for P2 cars. I seem to have seen prices as low as $19.95. My local Volvo service guy tells me that he gave up on it because of the cost and now sends people to the stealer. Recommendations, including cable?

More like $100ish for 2014D and a DiCE interface. Poke around on eBay & spend plenty of time lurking around the ViDA forum.

A couple years ago I got en el-cheapo DiCE unit with included 2014D software for I want to say around $80 and it’s worked flawlessly.

And what kind of program did you use to load it? (if that's the correct wording)

I ask because I heard Windows 10 is necessary. However of the 3 versions available (Office, XP and Pro, I believe), one doesn't work.

Also, how for back will these programs go? Do they go back further than 1999?

Thanks for the heads-up re a VIDA forum Pete.

Are these prices including the cable to hook up?

Mine came with the software and the DiCE interface (cable), as most will.

I run it on an old motorcycle tuning laptop I have that runs Windows 7. It’s actually faster than my new SSD Windows 10 laptop. Anyhow, my included software worked, but many resort to using a “patch” which I believe RickHaleParker made or had a hand in the making of. According to what I’ve read it will work on newer versions of Windows as well. I haven’t tried it on 10 though.

Thanks for answering so fast.

I knew a guy with VIDA who was complaining it running slowly. He had installed it on Windows 7.

I am not proficient at loading software.

The date-fix patch comes from Swedespeed, those guys figured it (VIDA installation) out well, you can also find installation instructions there but it is not simple.
