Power bump

Post by Cragar111 »

I bought my daughter a 2004 Volvo S60 For getting back and forth to school and we’ve discovered that when it is driven for 45 minutes or so there’s an electric power bump somewhere in the system and error messages are displayed in the information center like the driver’s rear door is open along with the interior lights coming on and the cruise will cancel. I can reset it by stopping and restarting the engine but once it has warmed up to this behavior it continues. Does anybody have any idea why it’s doing this or how I can fix it?

It might help to use vida software to look for codes, not sure if it will show anything though.
I'd check the computer cooling fan, theres a 5 amp fuse in the engine bay, listed in the owner manual.
Other than that, bad chassis ground that builds resistance?
it can be like chasing ghosts until it goes to full failure.

If the same mssg repeats such as cruise control you can see what else shares that circuit, its listed on the fuse directory.

Thanks, the message that always comes up first bump is the driver’s rear door being open. I’ll check that out.

Check for water intrusion into the CEM, that will give you a lot of ills.

The lights coming on would follow a door open message. Check the fitment ofnthe door of course
