Amazing process - fly WAY out to this thing, get into close orbit, map and photograph it in great detail, find some locations that aren't big rocks, map them in more detail, set up and "land" the spacecraft so it can scoop up a kilo or so of ancient space dust, and then bring it home to study. The time lag is too long to control it manually, so it has the surface map programmed into it, and it can make go-no go decisions and go back around for another try.

It checks what it's "seeing" with the surface mapping it holds, to decide how to fire the thrusters to get down to an exact spot on the surface. It's mostly boulders, and it needs a smoothish dusty spot.
