940 Radiator question

Post by cmdz »

I got into an accident with my beloved 940 about 2 months ago.

I made a post about it then ( viewtopic.php?f=2&t=95020&p=553043#p553043 ) - and then took it apart and took more photos which you can see here: https://imgur.com/a/P6DFhSw

I still can't bring myself to say good bye. ha. I know some of y'all here get it.

I need to move it though.

So I'm looking to see what mechanical damage there is.

When the accident happened, i got it towed, because it lost all coolant instantly.

From what I see, all hoses and everything is in tact.

I poured water in the reserve today and watched where it fell out.

All dripped from the corner of the radiator here:

I have two questions:

1. What else should I should look for and check before going through the trouble of replacing the radiator in the driveway myself?

2. The pipes below feel awkward and unnatural to me. Can any one confirm if this is normal or bent?

Looks like you are going to be removing many AC parts. Not sure if the circled part is a radiator or an intercooler. Probably locate some used parts from a junkyard car so you can take it apart first so that you know how it comes apart. Then putting your car back together won't be such a mystery.

That’s AC lines. They don’t look bent, the mount looks likeut was originally angled.

Definitely get to a junkyard and compare with a non-hit car. It looks like the condensor took a hit deep enough to hit the refrigerant manifold, though.
