Hello it's me again
Now with a different question. I might have a chance to trade my '95 854 2.5 20v for a 97' v70 2.0t 20v.
Firstly I would like to ask if the trade is equal as in value? To help currently there are none 2.5 20v 850 for sale but the last one was sold for 500€ or it was removed from the site(was in not so good condition) idk. But the v70 2.0 20v is selling for 1.7€. (Looks to be perfect)
And if the v70 is any good or is it the same to an 855, since they are the same platform.
Another thing I was looking up to was the tuning possibilities of the v70 because of the turbo if anyone has experience with that.
In conclusion I would like to hear your opinion on this topic, if the 850 is better not to trade.
Edit: i would like to stay on the p80 platform, with an eibach pro kit and 17 i found i realy like how the car drives, but i would like something more powerful, without having to switch for another brand since now i know quite a lot about the p80s i think.
Thanks
854 2.5 20v for a v70 2.0t 20v trade

It is hard for us to compare the relative value of the 2 cars. If you have spent a lot of time/money on your 850 sedan then unless you want a wagon I'd keep it. Better a car you know already to an unknown. At this age you have no idea how these cars have been maintained and you could easily spend double or more what you pay for the car it bringing the car up to a safe reliable car.
Over here I don't believe in North America we ever got the 2.0 litre engine in any form. Only to 2.3, 2.4 and 2.5.
When I lived in the UK I had a 2.0 T-5 V70. Absolutely a superb car. 2.0 is a sweet engine and pulls well in turbo form.
It is really a case of being sure you want the new car more than what you already have, have it inspected by a trusted mechanic for obvious issues and then make a decision on the price or if you want to buy it at all.
Either way good luck!
Neil.

Hy,
To me I share Neil's point of view. Better keep a car you already know. I made a bet, a year ago and get a 850 in Netherland, because my goal was about to have several options impossible to find on French ones to be to sell. I'm an 850 aficionado, the shape, the car in itself.
May be could you wait to find another 850 that corresponds to your wish. You speak about to work on the turbo if I have well understood. Why not wait for a powerful 850 (T-5_R, R) then ?

Well, as I have written in another post an 850 t5 is way out of budget if I could even find one, so t5r or r are out of the picture.
And yes I also prefer the 850 front end over the v70 one, but from what I have read I would make a 850 front end swap.
Also to clarify I have had my 850 for 2 years now ( before it was 3 years in my family) and in the mean time I have repaired and serviced some things and lowered it, which would total up to 1000€. And I am pretty sure that I would be able to spot if something was wrong with the other car.
Another point to say was since owning it I went to check 2 other 20v 2,5 850 that popped up for sale and both of them were really tired to say the least, so I know my 850 is in great shape compared to others.
Thanks to Neil and Manov for your opinions.
Edit; I want to have a turbo model, the wagon doesn't look as nice as the sedan imo but I like it.

I understand the Turbo is really tempting. That's why I have 2 of them and retired my trusty 2.5 10V. But given the age these cars have by now and what kinda gremlins old cars can have, I'd really stick with what I know. If you could keep your NA and drive the Turbo for a while, you might get to know it.
But think about it this way: If I had a nice Turbo wagon, why would I consider trading it for an NA?
