Timing VVT hub

Post by mvferh »

Hello everyone, need some direction on VVT hub timing. My 2013 has vvt on both cams. These vvt hubs are flat faced with no adjustment slots. Every write up I can find refers to hubs with three bolts you can adjust the hub with. Not mine. I need to pull one off for a leaking cam seal. Anyone familiar with timing these hubs?
Thanks

I have the same car with the same engine and I even have my upper engine mount off right now just like yours. Although mine doesn't look like it just at a bird. I have the same problem. Mine is leaking oil and tripping an engine code that its out of time. I just changed the belt and I didn't let the pullys move but I think when I put the belt on I left too much slack between the cams and/or I set the tension wrong at first and it slipped and or strained the bearings. It runs, but the exhaust sounds restricted, almost nasal. I've adjust the crank several times but kept the cams in the same position relative to one another every time. I had the timing advanced a little but otherwise the car ran really great at one point. Although it idled really fast around 1000RPMS. I think my problem might be with the VVT system but I need some help understanding what could be wrong. I replace the timing belt, water pump, alternator pulley, AC clutch bearing, idler, both tensioners and both serpentine belts. I replaced the TCV with an IPD HD TCV and ran all new lines too it and rebuilt/sealed the vacuum pump all at the same time. So I don't know if something else is effecting it that I may have gotten wrong but I double checked my work and it seems to be solid. But maybe I am making a huge mistake with the turbo or something because I know some of the symptoms I have sound like vacuum related problems. HELP. I need my car to work!!
