‘06 Fuel pump problem?

Post by GlennG2759 »

‘06 V70 NA 112k miles. Fuel gauge was at 3/4 yesterday with approx. 375 miles left to go. Today I noticed gauge at full and miles left go not decreasing after being driven about 75 miles.
I turned car off and back on and miles decreased about 20 miles. Check engine light has been coming on at 1/4 tank after last 2 fill ups. I cleared and tightened gas cap. Could these 2 problems be connected or coincidence. I have a metal fuel tank and am wondering whether I should replace fuel pump. From what I’ve been able to tell, this particular fuel pump/sending unit is one module versus the plastic tanks individual components. I did try removing #1 10a fuse at rem for 10 minutes, didn’t work. Any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Glenn

Time to read off those codes! Does sound like the sending unit. I’ll check my 2005 Alldata to see if there is anything there.

That is very low miles. Did you drive or park on an incline ? Can't tell about the check engine light but I doubt it's a pump problem (but could be a loose cap tank indeed). The sender is only attached to the pump assembly, yet not sold separately. You may ask a garage to remove it and maybe check as shown in the video below.
