850 Need part Dust boot, Clutch fork

Post by manovlov »

Hy,
As incredible as it seems, it's impossible here to me to find the part named in the title of this topic, DUST BOOT- Clutch fork. All the used 850 sellers I've contacted do not want to separate this boot from the gearbox. Volvo doesn't has this part anymore. This part is not essential, but need to be replace before to re assemble the gearbox to the engine.

So, I need to find one across MVS if possible. If there is someone who can sell it to me I would appreciate (a German or intra European MVS member would be easier). I will pay by paypal to go quickly. Deal by PM.

I hope you're all fine.

Best regards

I searched on Google and did not find any in stock anywhere. You may have already try an internet search.
Something that might work if you have no other offers, is to start calling Volvo shops and see if they have one in their own parts inventory. Their New Old Stock (NOS) may get you a bellows/dust boot.

Salut Volvolugnut,

Yes, I've swept google , eBay, already, in France, Germany, NL, Belgium with no success. One thing is sure, I will do my clutch myself the next time...
I've send a message to Robbie RYI, as he uses to play in junkyards at his lost moments, and if by luck he answers to me and is not afraid to send me one by mail will have some luck ... :D

It's funny to observe that more you become "strong", decided and "precise", more you find yourself alone, as it was frightening for the others to talk to such a guy.

Are we convicted to live under the flag of a community ?

One day, I will have a big field, and I will stock 850 everywhere, and I sware I will do my homework !

I even looked on gcp.se website and it is listed as NLA (they supply Volvo classic parts). They do have a comment that if you are interested you can contact them. I guess the thought is if they get enough interest they might remake the part?

I had to look it up under the old part number. The new part number did not come up.

Salut Neil,

Thanks to have deployed energy for that story... This part is not really essential, but it may be on its right place. I will contact them tomorrow.

Can someone who does have one measure it up and post the sizes here?

There is probably a close cousin car that uses a similar part

I'd imagine any car that uses an M56 would have one, which means even Ford-era stuff (P1s and P3s) should have it. Might be a different part number for those cars.

Hy Guys !

So, the end of the story is near, and I have the explanation, the final one, about why my clutch was wrong. The ball socket from clutch fork was missing. I do think that when the pedal brake piston failed, the pressure was to low to keep the fork on contact with the piston of the salve cylinder; The ball socket wasn't at its right place, so, it felts and the clutch plate did the rest...

Now the clutch is rebuilt and everything is fine.

So, why write "the end of the story is near" then ? Because I miss the dust boot fork clutch. I've called Norway, Finland, Sweden (of course) Germany , France, Spain, Lithuania car salvage and junk yards but this part is not conserved when cars are disassembled. As Cookeh mentioned there must be a new part existing under another brand (ford... ) but I don't know.

I'm waiting for a possible option from Robbie DYI. Anyway, if someone has got the opportunity to go on a junkyard and may pick up this part for me, and acceptes to send here in France, I would appreciate. It's not an essential one but if it's installed on the car, it must be on.

Thanks so much for your supports, Buddies !

Pretty much what I mentioned. Not having that bushing in place would put the clutch fork in the wrong location and thus the clutch slave cylinder would over-extend when the clutch pedal was pressed to actuate the clutch.

Either it broke and fell out or someone has been in there previously and did not replace it when things were reassembled.

At least you know the reason for the problems now.

'97 855 GLT - Hers. RN swap/16T/COP/VVT/exhaust/302s/Flashed M4.4/ chassis bracing/ 2 kid seats
'78 GLE - Waiting in the wings. Future whiteblock/T5 swap.
