I know that a lot of user support for Lemforder parts as OEM for our Volvo Cars, but I just bought a piece and it's made in China. WTF?

There are plenty of decent parts made in China, no reason to buy or not on label of origin.

Parts quality is a moving target with time constants of a few years, a brand part from 2017bcaj easily be junk now

Keep in mind Volvo is owned by Geely a Chinese automotive company. Some Volvos are made in China.
Geely also owns Geely Auto, Geometry, Polestar, 50% of Lynk & Co, 49.9% of Proton and 51% pf Lotus.

Lemforder controls the design specs and quality standards.
The chinese company manufactures the parts to Lemforder's SCD ( Source Control Drawing / Specification Control Drawing ) .

All true facts (above) but also there were recent report(s) by trusted member(s) in this forum of quality issues with Lemforder suspension parts that surprised me, pretty sure it was P2 control arms because I had just bought them. Oragex or Pete or someone ...

The bottom line is it's a moving target and you're spot on to ask.

All companies are changing continuously. The Lemforder strut mount bearing is bad, their individually sold control arm bushings are bad, their tie rods, end link and ball joints may stlil be good. Rule of thumb: if it's cheap is bad
