Post by mrbrightside2009 »

just had the engine swapped out, car cranks but won't start...not getting any spark...also no check engine light showing on dash with key in the on position. tried plugging in scanner...says communication error with ecu. swapped out coil.....crank sensor... plugs ..wires.. cap rotor...coil all brand new. also checked all fuses... one of the immobilizer fuses were blown...replaced still nothing.

Check cam sensor, also how about are the little plates on the back of the cams in the correct orientation? I'd check them both.

This means that ECU doesn't get power.

ok still messing with this.... found a few grounds not hooked up....one by starter, small black wire and one on firewall....coil seems to get really hot after cranking... 2 plugs are unhooked....the black one is under the manifold but doesn't seem to have anywhere to plug in....brown is by the passenger headlight.....what are these for?

I have the same car - I can't see where that black plug you're showing is. Maybe a little better picture and I could tell.
The brown/orange plug should just be clipped to the back of the headlight assembly. There is one on each headlight housing.
I'm guessing for fog lights but that's just a guess.

Is the cam sensor connected? Is the crank sensor connected? IAC and TPS also in that area but I did not go and look what color their plugs are.

Also maybe let us know many pins on that black plug (tewo?), might help to figure out what it goes to.

Brown connector is for headlight adjustment. Black connector seems like knock sensor, it does not affect spark and injection. As misha said above, ECU is not powered, it's 100%. You said about disconnected ground wire near starter, there should be 1 or 2 more. Maybe they are disconnected too?
If my English is bad, please correct me
