Passenger door pops open when hitting road bumps
So my front passenger door likes to pop open where the latch is only half engaged when I hit speed bumps too hard or a small pothole. Everything looks aligned as far as I can tell. The lock on that side will only partially engage on its own. It must be pushed down the rest of the way to function. 1 out of every 4 door closures requires a slam to actually close shut. Thoughts?

Assuming the door is aligned and the latch is properly working, have you checked the door seals to see if they're fully in place? The seals are really tight on this vehicle, if something is even slightly off it'll not let the door close fully without an extra effort. The large seal around the door frame has a hard channel that presses onto the door frame lip, might be worth walking it all around and seeing if everything is pushed in completely. If you feel comfortable enough in removing the seal temporarily, you could try the door without and see if it closes more fully.
That might be a good place to start. I replaced a torn driver's door seal a few years ago, took a while before the door would latch without a little extra effort. Fine now but I distinctly recall having an issue when it was first installed.

I know what it is... happened to me.... we'd be driving and the passenger door would open by itself, even if locked. Its an easy fix.... need to replace the twisted steel cable... its like the cable on a bicycle front brake..... can do it yourself... what happens is it got frayed, and cannot move well inside the housing... you can do this easily and remove the door panels and swap it out... i recall the cable was only maybe a foot long.

Funny thing is the plastic mount behind the handle broke and I noticed the frayed cable. I'm replacing both.
