1997 850 Sedan Manual Transmission in excellent condition $3,000 OBO, Chicago, IL

Post by Screefchap »

In the fall of 1996 at the ripe old age of 29, I bought my first new car, this 1997 850, with a manual transmission. After 25 years, I've decided to treat myself to a new car, and am selling my old girl, even though everything is still in proper working order. :D

For the first 10 years or so, it was dealer serviced, and then lovingly maintained by myself thereafter (I'm an old-school engineer).

The details:
* Located in Chicago suburb Darien, IL (zip 60561)
* Clean
* $3,000 OBO
* The clear coat has flaked on the hood and roof (it was parked outside and after some freezing rain, it started to flake off)
* It does burn (but not leak) oil. About 2 quarts every 5,000 miles.
* About 235,000 single-driver miles (still driving it daily, hence the "about")
* Oil changes ever 5,000 miles (10W30)
* B5254S 2.4 L (2,435 cc) engine, naturally aspirated with Bosch Motronic 4.4 engine management
* Volvo 6 CD changer (located in trunk)
* No oil or coolant leaks
* Like other engines of this vintage, it does experience the occasional Lawnmower Syndrome episode (viewtopic.php?t=18175)
* A/C blows cold
* Will do 90 miles an hour on the highway with no trouble
* Dashpad and interior door panels are all in good shape (see pictures)
* Tires are good for another 35,000 miles
* Unused full-size spare, original lug nut wrench and jack included
* Rubber all season mats front and rear (original unused carpet ones are included too), and trunk spill tray
* Paper and electronic copies of the service manuals

If you're looking for a well-maintained old-school daily driver, or something for your kid to teach him (her?) how to drive a stick, look no further!

I've taken a lot of pictures to try and capture everything you might be curious about.  Apologies for the incorrect orientation of some of them.
