Question about crankshaft...

Post by Sveedy »

So how do they come out of these engines ? I did a search and couldn't find anything on it. Is it just bolted down with caps/bearings in a standard manner or is it sandwiched in the block some other way ?

Oh fun. What a goofy design. So I'm guessing that if the cylinders need cleaning up or boring that then I have to separate the block before taking it to the shop. So I can't tell from the picture, but I don't see a gasket so are we talking anaerobic sealer between the two parts ?

Exactly. The same sealer is for camshafts cover and oil sump.
I use Abro 999 (grey) or Reinzoseal (black) instead of liquid sealers (VERY thin layer applied by finger). Results are good.
For last 2 engines I tried liqud Curil T sealer. No leaks, but 1 year after assembling is not passed yet...
