Just exploring some options for my wife's '97 855 that is in need of a new rear bumper cover.
Has anyone put a V/XC70 rear bumper on an 855?
I've contemplated a V/XC70 rear bumper, but I know there are some mounting differences between the two. The 850 has a bolt attachment on the sides, but the "70" has brackets attached to the body that the bumper slides into. I'm assuming those could be retrofitted to the 850. What about the rest of it? Is the metal bumper the same? Mounting brackets to the body?

I think mounting brackets might be adapted, but are the bumpers the same width and the rear fenders the same shape at the rear?

I have it on my wagon.
Everything is the same except plastic side slide brackets which you need to fit by driling a few mounting points and install few bolts to keep them in place.
Just make sure that you use the whole rear bumper assembly,not just the cover.
