2007 S80 134,000 miles
I am thinking of buying a 2007 S80 with 134,000 miles. Went to test drive it today and every time I started it, the button had to be pushed twice. The first time the engine would turn over and somewhat start and then die. The second time, hold the button in slightly longer and it would start. I am looking to buy for 19 year old son. Is this a steady car and is there a lot of life yet? Anything major on the horizon? The owner has not changed the timing belt, is it a belt or chain? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Volvo_Disney,
I absolutely think the S80 is a great choice.
The Engine has a Timing Chain so you won't need to change that. But the serpentine belt is a big job that should be done.
Note: as with any used car above 100K miles you should expect to fix the things that the previous owner deferred.
Full disclosure I own two 3.2 P3s
2008 Land Rover LR2 3.2 I've owned since new (Ford owned Land Rover and Volvo and the LR2 is based on the S80)
2010 Volvo S80 3.2 (Purchased in 2018 for my son to drive)
Here are the items that I fixed on the S80 (Note: most of these I also did on the LR2)
$62.53 --- (31401556) --- Booster O-rings
$40.35 --- (DENSO 5344) --- Sparkplugs
$58.28 --- (LR006071) --- Thermostat
$00.66 --- (LR001505) O-ring for 30713530
$24.29 --- (30713530) --- Coolant hose
$68.85 --- (31272677) --- Oil Filter housing
$18.92 --- (LR006076) --- Idler pulley
$18.92 --- (LR006076) --- Tensioner Pulley
$08.97 --- (PK060473 CONTITECH) --- Aux Belt
$112.70 --- (LR021634) --- Motor Mount
$23.24 --- (30680474) --- Torq Mount
$15.76 --- (UD1306) --- Front Brake Pads (Amazon close out price, typical price is ~$75)
$523.23 --- AC repair
$43.37 --- Overdrive pulley ProParts Sweden 28436803
$323 ---- Radiator (Prem Air type)
$281 --- Radiator Fan (Siemens / VDO)
$34 --- BOSH Fuel Pressure Sensor
If I was buying a S80 today I would make sure that the AC blows cold (get a $7 gauge from Amazon if you don't have one)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002 ... UTF8&psc=1
Set to the coldest temperature with the Thermometer in the vent you should get to the blue region
For the complete detail of what I did on the S80 and the order that I did them see this post

Good luck

Son and I test drove a 2007 S80 and he liked it and I didn't due to suspension issues with the car. It's his favorite Volvo body style besides his current 08 C30 T5 2.0 M66. I later test drove another 2007 S80. Both cars weren't taken care off and this one had oil burning from a leak somewhere.
I have since changed my mind on the P3 S80 but am fearful of the R.E.A.D issue. I would buy a V8 S80 or T6 S80 for a little more power. I don't have any experience with the 3.2 though but I do have an 03 S80 T6.

Robert,
I really like that second video.
I added it to my S80 Challenge thread.
Note: the S80 3.2 completes the quarter mile at 91 MPH and the 3.0T is closer to 100 MPH. For me low 90's is perfectly acceptable and more than fast enough for a young driver that wants to use the highway. But if you are replacing a car that can get to 100 MPH in the quarter mile then the 3.2 will feel slower.
If the goal is to keep cost down the 3.2 FWD is likely the best option.
Thanks for sharing the video
