Angle gear chemical gasket leaking
ive got a small oil seepage leak from a small section of where the two halves join, have tried tightening the bolts. Ive correctly filled it as per VIDA. Has anyone tried any of the miracle stop leak products? the leak isnt bad enough to warrant complete teardown and rebuild but its still making a mess.

Keep it clean and monitor, it could just be slight overfill, venting and escaping air vapors. I only use Volvo's AG fluid.darylrobert wrote: ↑20 Aug 2021, 04:51 ive got a small oil seepage leak from a small section of where the two halves join, have tried tightening the bolts. Clean it up. Top it off. Confirm where leak is coming from.
Anaerobic sealants will not reseal with tightening. If anything they will continue to get worse. The stuff dries due to lack of air - meaning it is dry and will leak and get worse as the bond between the two surfaces is now compromised.
I have heard of people using sealants on the outside with some success. You can try, but it is not best practices. Pick your sealant and clean the area of ALL oil and dirt. It has to be really clean or the sealant will not bond and you will have zero chance at long term success. I would do the entire bottom and up the sides of the seam.
Were it me I would pull the unit and reseal. The part is really expensive and any leak is dangerous. Sealing from the outside too risky - maybe a stopgap measure until one has time, but keep an eye on it.
