But life got in the way of car repairs --
I have this "thunk / clunk" sound that sounds like it is coming from under the dash. It's low pitched, and it happens when I put the car in gear, or stop, or turn left. It sounds a lot like a bad upper strut mount - I replaced one already on a previous car, but I got out there and should, prodded, rocked, on the ground, half jacked wheel all the way off the ground and I could not make the top mount make a noise or shift. And it looks nice and solid, too. Oh yeah, and there is an intermittent left wheel vibration at speeds - like the wheel is out of balance, but it comes and goes and at any speed with no reason I can find.
I grabbed the half shaft and found a "click" sound when i rotated it. I can feel it underneath the teh boot at the back of the wheel. Not much rotation, but still there. I don;t think the two are linked but that means the CV joint is going? No clicking sounds when making tight turns or in reverse. So is it half shaft replacement time, too?
Much thanks
sorry for posting this again
