2001 S80 2.9 - Trunk won't open

2001 S80 2.9 - Trunk won't open

I have a 2001 s80 2.9. The trunk will not open, either manually (by hand) or using the release button on the remote. This model does not have the in car release. I have tried variations like pressing down on the lid while trying to release - no luck.

Any suggestions on what to try / do will be appreciated - thanks.
