I would use full synthetic and change the oil and filter every 5000 miles. Change the air filter every other oil change. Very easy procedure on my t5 but don't have a clue about a t6.

Check out this site to change oil on the turbo. I changed it but it does take some time and effort to do it right. You need to take off the bottom plastic engine cover and you may need to purchase another crush washer for the oil drain hole. But overall something that can be done easily enough at home. I would suggest being able to roll the car up on somekind of blocks because the clearance under the car is quite tight.

If you are going to routinely perform the scheduled maintenance I suggest you get a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve and K&N washable air filter.

The Fumoto Valve allows you to drain your oil without any wrenches. It also saves the cost of that $*&@# compression washer. It does take a little longer to drain but if you have a bottom engine cover you can cutout the area needed to flip the drain lever and remove the oil filter.

The K&N air filter will save $$ over the life of the car. It is washable and the K&N recommended service schedule is every 25K miles (I clean mine about every 15-20K miles). You will want to keep the original air filter to put into the car while the K&N is being cleaned/drying.
