SEATTLE; SHOP/MECHANIC WANTED

Post by andyleonard »

I’m Andy Leonard, a retired BMW mechanic from Los Angeles and a Volvo driver since the '60s. I have 2 boys at school in Seattle running around with older Volvos, a 97 850GLT and an 05 XC70. They’re used to me doing all the work, with them helping, and that’s not happening in Seattle ...so we need a shop that will work on older cars and a sympathetic mechanic.
The 850 just made a successful run L.A.-Seattle after a valve job, timing belt, PCV, new tires, etc. but in the cold weather has - I suspect - popped the high pressure steering hose and is leaking steering oil.
The XC70 is enroute from San Francisco to Seattle as we speak and currently has no known problems…but it will.
Preliminary research has turned up Vovo on 15th Ave.
Could you Seattle folk please point us at the right guy?
Much appreciated.

I don't personally have any recommendations as I am in Portland. What you might do is go to the Facebook group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/vopnw

They may know as there are a lot of members on there. Hope that helps.

I haven't lived there in quite a while, but there are still some names I recognize -

The old dealer, formerly called Bob Byers Volvo, been there a long long time. It was my parts source forever. Just north of the UW stadium, up the hill.

All Vovo - Ballard neighborhood

Eurocar Service - Pretty near Bob Byers, NW of UW.

Larry's Independent Volvo Service - Beacon Hill south end.

Larsons is a place I don't know but looks promising.
