Newbie with S70 questions

Post by steelerman »

Just discovered this great forum this week and have a few questions about my 1998 S70. Here's the basic info.

S70 T5, Automatic
120,000 miles
Location: Bethlehem, PA.

Recently passed inspection and emissions through 1/2008

Recent routine maintenance:
Oil and filter
Fuel injection service
New battery
New tires all around

Purchased in March, 2006 at Integrated Automotive Services in Easton, Pa., 106,000 miles.
Here are the repairs since that date. All were 100% covered under the 4-year, extended warranty I purchased through Great Lakes Warranty Co.
*Steering rack
* LF front wheel bearing
* Thermostat
* Front brake rotors
* R/F and R/R door actuators

My questions are:
1. I don't have detailed maintenance records prior to when I bought the car. The warranty book has repair shop/dealer stamps in various places, but I don't know exactly what work was done. What maintenance should I have done at this point and at what mileage?

2. I have a squeal, rather loud at times, left front, when braking only. As I said, LF wheel bearing and front rotors have been replaced. Pads recently passed inspection, fronts at 9B, rears 5B. What could be causing this squeal? Is it in any way normal?

3. Any of you know Integrated Automotive Services (i-a-s.net) and their service reputation?

Thanks for all your help.

Go here and join, then you can download all kinds of information about your car: http://www.volvocars.us/tools/OwnersInfo/
Here is your maintenance schedule: http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/199 ... nance.html

Everything repeats itself after 60K miles. Your timing belt is at 70K miles...Serpentine (service or drive belt) is at 60K miles, but since it now-a-days lasts longer, most do it at the same time. In 20K more miles your timing belt is due...if it isn't done yet, do it NOW. With the second change, the pullies, tensioner, dampener as well as water pump and wp gasket should be done.

You were very smart to get the extended warranty. Most of the things you listed as being repaired/replaced are typical things that go wrong on these cars at the miles you listed. Other than these, you might look into front (and rear) suspension parts such as new shocks/struts, spring seats, swaybar endlinks, etc. at your miles to make the ride decent again.
