Hi,
New poster here.
I am replacing the timing belt/water pump/rollers on my 1998 V70 NA this weekend. I've done timing belts on multiple & various makes/models so the job doesn't intimidate me. I do not have a service manual for this car yet (just bought it last Saturday) so I don't know what to crank things down to. Does anybody have the torque values for the various bolts?
Thank you,
Thaddeus

Welcome!
You will have to let us know if you have the hydraulic style tensioner or the mechanical style tensioner as the parts are completely different.

I bought the kit for the earlier engine serial number set.

98 was the change over year going from the hydraulic piston that tensions the timing belt to the mechanical adjuster.
The only way to be sure is to open the timing belt cover and check, but if you used the engine number to order the kit it should be ok. We should be able to get the torque setting for the timing belt parts on the older version.
Neil.

Torque values are in there . All of these torques are “ non-critical” meaning you could just standard table torques for m6 and M8 bolts on these components.
Robert Spinner has an excellent series of videos on these jobs, too

Get a copy of the Haynes S/V/C70 manual. It is very good, contains a huge amount of torque values, and its procedures are very clear. It's a valuable and quick way to get info, using forum written procedures to double check, provide tips, or accommodate for variations (like your tensioner). The only down side is that it's written in British English so some words take getting used to. You'll catch on.
