P80 door actuator motor

Post by scot850 »

Has anyone tried or used these motors? They come with a PTC inside. I have also seen companies selling just the end caps on Aliexpress which have the thermal resistor. Again anyone tried those just for the resistor?

Does anyone know the resistance value of the PTC resistor?

Thanks,

Neil.

Thanks for the offer. I have some spare actuators and a couple of new ones, but may still buy some of these motors in the spirit of group learning. I have done the copper wire fix for now, but living in Canada where these can freeze solid I prefer to have the motor protection in place. The 'R' is now mostly going to be used for summer transport (both days!!) up here and put away for the winter unless the darn thing gets sold which it clearly is asking for! Grrrr!

At $20 CDN each with shipping, a lot cheaper than $350 from the dealer with a discount! Probably worth a try.

I too would be curious on this. My 98 S70 needs three of the actuators fixed.

I have ordered 2 of the motors and 6 of the end caps with the resistor in them. If/when they arrive I will try fitting these to actuators I have and see how they work. I'll update as/when it happens.

looking forward to seeing how this goes. as soon as i get mine apart i'll be ordering up some motors as well. did you have any luck on matching the motors up with any suppliers on ebay? when i did my lexus i found the motors in sets of 4. also, does the worm gear come off by chance to transfer over to a motor that may not have the gear?
