Re: DIY: Oil Pan/Sump O-Ring Replacement 2000 XC
Anyone know if the process is the same for a m56 transmission? The mating of the oil pan and transmission makes me worry a bit that I don't have the right seals etc The oil pan and transmission DO NOT exchange fluids therefore no sealant is used or needed between the two. But follow the steps of bo...

Re: Quick opinion please - oil pan and bottom of block condition
Doesn't look bad for the mileage. I wouldn't worry much with the light varnish on most surfaces. If anything, I would remove the oil pickup tube and clean it as thoroughly as possible. If that means the sink with dawn and then the dishwasher, okay, A local machine shop for a quick spin in a parts-cl...

Re: Quick opinion please - oil pan and bottom of block condition
Is the engine still in the car? If you have access to it, and all the stuff on the front of the engine is off, it is worth cleaning the oil return tube from the PCV catch tank to the oil pan. It is difficult to do from the front of the car when doing the PCV clean as it takes a hard turn downwards. ...

Re: Quick opinion please - oil pan and bottom of block condition
You can see the oil return tube in the pics, looks very clean in both the block and the pan. But I agree!

Re: Quick opinion please - oil pan and bottom of block condition
In this instance I'd clean the oil pan well and put it back on, clean passages as mentioned, nothing more. Inspect away for edification but not loosen anything or mess with the bearings. Super clean history, still low miles (212k), there is no reason to suspect the bottom end of this white block is ...

Re: How did I convince myself to do this?
What I see in that photo: Extra pedal, correct shifter.
No need to complain!
I'd highly recommend taking on the dash mounts while you have it apart. That's what I'd do if I ever got up the nerve to do an evap core job.

Re: How did I convince myself to do this?
Check the whole main flap assembly. I found it broke because the driver's side flap seal had turned to a sticky goo making it stick when closed and making more strain on the motor and flap. That is not available and has not been for many years. I had to pull on from a scrap car to get a good one. Th...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I buried the punk P0014 error code on my T5 finally. Had been giving me fits, and I stuck with it and it has been vanquished.

Re: Volvo Findings! (What have you found on Craigslist?)
Found a listing for 06 s40 manual transmission with "blown head gasket" that won't start. Listing notes that it's sat in the driveway for 3 years. It's listed for $400. Would I be crazy for trying to fix it? Three years ... pull the dipstick. If there has been coolant in the crankcase for...
