Re: Non-Volvo car chat megathread
Well that time of the year again when I get a chance to rub tires with some of the "upper crust". Needless to say, I parked around the corner. IMG_20250409_113733753_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_113759362_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_112700051_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_112644550_HDR.jpg IMG_20250409_111857130_...

Re: P80 the water pipe thread 985151
Beware. On the 850 I had a hell of a time fitting the pipe back into the water pump through the o-ring. It was just a straight cut on the pipe which kept cutting into the o-ring. I peened over that cut edge so that it had a sightly rounded shape which then slipped right passed the o-ring and into th...

Re: A $100 '99 V70 GLT
Well I figured it out. What threw me was that the fitment guide calls for 2 of each front camshaft seals, but in reality you use a different seal on the exhaust than the intake. So one of each is needed. So 3 different part numbers for the 4 cam seals. And yes; that banjo bolt for the PCV is beyond ...

Re: A $100 '99 V70 GLT
I had just slipped the turbo on to the studs, and was in the process of putting on the first washer, when I decided that maybe a flange nut would be better. I didn't remove the turbo originally so I wasn't sure which was used. That's when I dropped the washer. I heard it hit metal and then waited to...

Re: To change engine oil or not?
I would not worry about it at all. I don't see how it sitting in your engine is really any different than it sitting in a bottle.

Re: A $100 '99 V70 GLT
We will see since that's exactly what I used :) . When I reinstalled the t-stat with its collar seal, I noticed that the seal MAYBE sat flush with the housing. Certainly not a touch proud of it as I would have expected. So a little gray pukie on both sides and I will fill and check again in the morn...

Re: A $100 '99 V70 GLT
Working with clean components can make the difference between a fun job or a miserable job ( plus I can find leaks easier ). Besides I had the time :) Reset the timing belt tensioner and pumped out all of the gas, but now I think I should get a fuel filter, considering that its been sitting for 4 ye...
