Re: P1332 (Knock Sensor) and P0014 (Cam Timing) – Could This Be ETM Related? [1999 Volvo S70 GLT]

So just to clarify ( I'm now also getting the P0014 code ), I need to retard the timing by one tooth. I read the link re flack angle, and in the end both cam sprockets were turned ccw by one tooth. For some reason I thought you'd just retard the exhaust sprocket by one. And in either case, the prelo...

Re: P0014 code

Upon further thought, and a couple of Guinness, I think I'm going to have to go back to square one on this in the next day or so. I feel like I've messed with it a little too much, and at this point I feel like I'm just throwing darts. Plus with recent info, I hope to get better results this time. S...

Re: Losing the battle, 2000 V70 GLT 2.4T

I don't know where you are in this fine state, or if you have access to a Pick & Pull type of junkyard, but I'd go grab a solenoid for next to nothing and see if the problem persists. If it does, then you can probably rule the solenoid out. If it's fixed, well there you go.

Re: 95' NA - Cranks, doesn't start

The round plate that the rotor mounts to can be mistakenly indexed 180* off, which will cause a crank/no start situation.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Probably wasn't necessary, but I went ahead and replaced it anyway.

Re: Losing the battle, 2000 V70 GLT 2.4T

Think of it in terms of an old distributor type of ignition system. The rotor is spinning around, firing in order, and you turn off the key. It just stops wherever it happens to be in its rotation. When you go and start it again, it picks up where it was when you shut it off. It doesn't somehow spin...

Think about it the next time you eat it.....

While cleaning out the rescued V70, I found quite a few of these down between the seat and the console. Now this car had been sitting for 4+ years before I grabbed it, so this is how much they degrade over that time. Any discoloration is more likely due to 4 years of dirt than any rot. Maybe we shou...
