Re: P80 P2 Coolant pipe o-ring & install 976045

It’s going to end up in the top,of the radiator for the rest of that radiator’s life. No worries. Now, if it were a Saturn, loss of rings would be a concern.

I’ll contemplate that over a Mars Bar.

Re: P80 P2 Coolant pipe o-ring & install 976045

I think that's your best bet. Bite the bullet, pull the pump and do it once.
454cid wrote: 05 Feb 2022, 17:53 I would not stress over a piece of o-ring being in there, if you don't happen to find it.
Agreed, it's probably fine. It's small enough that it shouldn't damage anything or affect flow significantly.

Re: P80 P2 Coolant pipe o-ring & install 976045

Yeah, I would still recommend setting it to the marks. Keep in mind you'll also have to clean off the gasket from the pump, so you'll probably want the belt out of the way. Might not need to take it all the way off, but it's better to be safe and go ahead and set it to the alignment marks.

Re: P80 P2 Coolant pipe o-ring & install 976045

You don’t need to lock the cams on a non VVT CAR. Set the crank to the timing mark , take the belt off, remove water pump

Nasty business with water pipe

Check cam timing marks
Reinstall belt , two full revolutions of motor , check marks , pull the pin

Re: Oil capacity of rebuilt engine

On an oil change, I use 6.1 qts. They say 5.6 qts "without oil cooler" and the capacity of the cooler/lines is just under 1 qts (0.95 qts)

If everything is dry (as in the oil cooler, lines, etc was also drained) you're looking at closer to 6.5 qts to get to capacity.

Re: Oil capacity of rebuilt engine

Don’t sweat it too much Sveedy. Turbos have the piston oilers so as long as the oil pump is making pressure everything is getting lubed well from 4 liters of oil on up

Sveedy wrote: 18 Feb 2022, 07:40 ^ So then maybe just about 7 qts if it's a turbo with a dry engine, lines, turbo etc.
No, 6.5.

Re: P80 Master O-ring Model Part Number Size Type Comment Thread

Sveedy wrote: 20 Feb 2022, 16:08 Is there a # for the O-rings ( 2 ) that seal the oil thermostat lines in its body ? I think they are green from what I've read.
I couldn't find anything on IDP or FCP. Thinking that they are a dealer part only.
See attached 968757 ?
