Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
For that front brace, I would recommend rivet style nut inserts like these https://www.harborfreight.com/10-in-professional-rivet-nut-setter-kit-58078.html I think Volvo says new on the long ones into the snout whenever the subframe is removed. You don’t have to listen to Mother always, but an inspe...

Re: Non-Volvo car chat megathread
I looked up the development of the Quattroporte ("4 doors"). Series 1, 1963, Aluminum 4.1L twin-cam V8 with four downdraft Weber carbs, 260 hp. 5-speed or Borg-Warner automatic. Designed by coach builder Pietro Frua. 230 made. 1965_Maserati_Quattroporte_S1.jpg 1965_Maserati_QP_I_engine.jpg...

Sunroof guide pictures
Here are pictures for Sveedy hopefully showing the sunroof guides. Sorry, not the best pictures but I am working with a different computer that has just been updated to Win11. Uploading pictures is still being figured out! The most important details are the last 3 pictures. PXL_20230418_221919491.jp...

Re: Timing belt change
I use a zip tie to hold the belt on the sprocket in place while I slip the belt off the other , then move it a notch.
Don’t forget to remove zip tie then turn engine through two crank revolutions and recheck timing marks.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Well boys I have achieved greatness today. I have done some sketchy stuff over the years but this took everything I have. The xc90 threw a timing belt several months ago. Today I was finally able to tow it across the yard and uphill into the garage. I anchored a harbor freight winch and hand cranked...

Re: Volvo/cars humor
I had an automatic transmission in a Mazda 323 RUD on me after a spirited drive over 20 years ago.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Spent 2 hours cleaning, for 10 minutes worth of painting. All for something that really won't be seen. Not sure that this is a curable condition. IMG_20230422_143236596.jpg Next up, install delrin subframe bushings and bolt it on. This is the best it will ever look:C70-Brace-Complete.jpg I did this...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
1)Take off the exhaust pipe, and smack it with a BMF hammer ( pipe is 3" s.s. ) to flatten it out a little on the bottom. 2)Use a couple pieces of bar steel to shim the cross member down, and drop that section of the brace. 3)Take it to an exhaust shop and have them bend and install a new sect...

Re: Drop transmission pan?
If your trans is already a bit rough, it's generally not advisable to do a full flush or aggressive cleaning. The most recommended method would be to do a series of "drain & fills". Drop the drain plug, usually about 3.5 quarts comes out. Refill with the same amount and do this 2-3 mor...
