Re: Front quick struts
I installed Sachs Quick Struts in 2019, so far so good 25K miles later. Some people here had issues with it: I think it was @abscate. PS: Whatever you do, don't touch the Quick Struts with no names sold on ebay or local auto parts store. These struts are made in China. You can count on them failing...

Re: Front quick struts
DonnVa, I contacted IPD and they quoted me $269 per strut. Boy did I have it all wrong. $538 for the two front struts. Whew! For me it was worth it. My XC had cheap quick struts on it and I could/would not re-use any components. The Sachs kit unloaded and w/o springs is $500. My total for the two l...

Re: Generally speaking, how much does it cost to shampoo the inside of a car these days?
Well, I just did the mats in the XC. I had what I thought was a good idea and used my electric power washer (it’s not a high power unit). I cleared out the driveway and laid them down. I put soap in the power washer and pre-treated stains and did some manual scrubbing, then I hosed them down for qui...

Re: Steering rack input shaft seal. Am I crazy?
I’m glad you were able to get through it! One thing I did do to help get the high & low pressure lines in was remove the two screws that hold the pinion housing to the rack so I could rotate the cap a bit to help align those fittings so they screwed in fine, then put the screws back in.

Just got 2 FOB’s programmed remotely by Total Auto Tech
I just had two new full FOB’s programmed for my 2005 Volvo XC70 by Total Auto Tech. I purchased the two remotes off eBay extra-partss1 for $53.95. I had the two blades cut locally for $80 and Total Auto Tech remoted in to my computer which was hooked up to my XC via my DICE unit. They did a great jo...

Re: XC70 windshield mouldings
On a P80 the side windshield trim is well documented and discussed. That's a metal-backed piece, different animal, routine to remove/install but no new replacements available of any kind AFAIK. Junkyard only. Without rails one piece runs from the windshield corner all the way to the tail gate, with...

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
I don’t think I showed you all my front grill modification on my XC70 I did a few weeks ago… My badge was nasty and of course it’s discontinued, so I got the new style badge and modified the sash off a big square badge from an XC90.

I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”
Thanks to foggydogg (JC) I’m the proud owner of a 1962, with some 1967 mixed in, split the difference -> 1964.5 4dr 122s Amazon. 😂. I went by his place in DE a few weeks ago, while I happened to be working in the area, and checked it out. It has a lot of character and just a little surface rust. I d...
