Did you try cleaning the ECC connectors before you replaced the ECC?
Sometimes just resetting a electrical connector will exterminate the Gremlins.

I purchased a set of brand less aftermarket assemblies from IPD and I like the quality. The light output with factory bulbs was not great but maybe I'm ruined by modern lights. It could also be the reflectors.
