Re: Radiator drain plug difference

I couldn't find anything for NAPA radiator drain plugs, I don't know why they'd make it so close to the correct Volvo plug but not the same size. Anyways I found the size was an M12 with a 1.75 thread pitch, plastic bolts are available online or from supply companies like McMaster Carr. Hi again, O...

Re: Water pump 3 broken bolts

After days of drilling, I finally got the bolts out, and the pump on. It seems the M7 tap in my kit was a little oversized, as the bolt can wiggle around in the hole once threaded in. I decided to ignore the broken bolt at the top of the pump for now, one bolt was able to be torqued very carefully t...

Re: Water pump 3 broken bolts

I somehow seemed to have gotten it timed correctly, since I had to take the cam pulleys off, I drew circles around the 3 bolts to mark their position, as well as a marker line from the pulley onto the cam snout. Accidentally moved the cams taking the bolts out, putting a screwdriver through the hole...

Re: 850 water FLOWING sound

I tried purging the the air out of the system by opening the coolant bottle and running the car while periodically squeezing the upper radiator hose and did get some bubbles out, but the flowing and gurgling air bubble sound was still present in the core. I then noticed that it was still dripping ne...

Re: 850 water FLOWING sound

I finally got around to taking the heater core back out to replace the o-rings to solve the slow drip and found that I had overtightened the flange and flattened the o-rings when I replaced the heater core. When I looked into my coolant bottle after drying up all the drips that my hose-pinch pliers ...

Re: 850 water FLOWING sound

Returning the ability for the system to bleed itself seems to have worked, as well as new o-rings and using a gentle touch while tightening the heater core flange seems to have done a good enough job for me to put the front of the car back together. There is still a flowing sound when the car is tur...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Having done this several times, I use JB Weld Plastic epoxy or Marine GOOP for the plastic pieces to the card and use clamps and pieces of thick cardboard on the outer faces of the panels to prevent the clamps marking and leaving an indent. For the panel to panel sections, I use PL XL? construction...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I might do the capacitor replacement preemptively. with how fragile my fuse/relay holder plastic is, it would also be great if someone knows the capacitors I'd need so I can minimize the risks. another thing I noticed today is that my ECT has no harness. Does anyone know what the connection type is...

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad

Out with the...new, in with the....old? 20240520_203507.jpg Poor showing from a rein engine mount. I noticed it was bad on the second day after install. 20240520_192205.jpg 20240520_203716.jpg Completely broken through. Surprisingly, not as bad as you'd think, but definitely noticable when accelerat...
