Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I find that sometimes a worm drive clamp will rotate to a place where it is almost impossible to get a tool onto it to loosen. Talking about tools, I find myself always having to swap between 8mm, 7mm, and 6mm to be able to avoid using a flat-blade screwdriver. And then sometimes you run into those...

Re: Late 1998 V70XC driveshaft removal
One trick I use for removing stubborn torx and Allen screws is to put valve lapping compound (a paste of oil and aluminum oxide abrasive) on the driver bit. Also sharpening the bit with a bench grinder right before using it.

Re: Water pump 3 broken bolts
If you are going to raise the engine that amount. you have to disconnect the axles or you will damage them! Volvo say to not raise the engine more the I believe 25-30mm when fitting the rear mount for that reason.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Oh, I have made steel tabs at one point and JB welded them to the corner light to slide into the side of the headlight. It took way longer than it should have, but the solution worked until I found a good used light that still had the tabs in tact.

Ok, Image Rotation works. That photo above is [naturally] a completely normal, correctly oriented photo that I turned 180° with this new forum feature. You can go back to any photo you've ever posted to re-orient it, it's retroactive. This is how you do it: 1. click the rotation icon next to the fil...

Re: V70XC sounds like high revving electrical motor revving behind dash
jsrnsis, remove the radio, the ECC unit and then remove the cabin temp sensor/fan unit. Don't lose the foam seal on the front of it!
Clean the fan out and use a small amount of silicon oil on the bearing end and re-install. It should run quite.

Re: Parts brands - OE Volvo, trusted aftermarket, and bad

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Nice work on that rack. That’s the easy way to deal with the steering coupler, from the inside. Volvo says new nut (bolt too?) when you recouple that, still available.
That coupler is no longer available so be careful moving it over
