just adjusted the tie rod length by adding a thin washer in front of the lock nut, assembled everything, dropped it on the floor and I now have 1/16th " toe in, I'm calling it a win,

You only need to pull the front alum half with the cartridge.
swap a new cartridge in and reassemble.
