Look into CuNiform lines which don’t rust and are much easier to work and flare than steel lines
Thank bdub and dirk for teaching me about them, now we both know how to fish

Re: Looking 2007 XC70 steel front brake lines replacement advice
Nicop line is very easy to work.
Bend it with your hands.
Don't use a beam style flare tool.
This one worked for me.

Re: Looking 2007 XC70 steel front brake lines replacement advice
no special reaming tool needed , don't cut the line with a saw obviously. FCP has the proper cutter. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mini-tubing-cutter-1-8-5-8-gearwrench-2107?ads_cmpid=1556508155&ads_adid=59436370552&ads_matchtype=&ads_network=g&ads_creative=294603731951&utm_te...

Re: Is there an affordable lower ball joint separator tool for a 2007 XC70?
I've read reports that using anti seize on the balljoint splines can cause hydrolock and prevent it from seating flush with the knuckle. Antiseizer should be fine on the splined end of the axle for the wheel bearing though. Use sparingly.

Re: Are XC70s less common than other Volvo models?
Parts are scarce for both of my cars in Canada. Now that the border is open I buy 100% of my parts (except emergency items) from the USA. Sales figures were and continue to be incredibly low in Canada for Volvo passenger vehicles. Yes I would agree the S60 is more well-documented online. But with so...

Re: Are XC70s less common than other Volvo models?
There are a fair few XC70 P2's over in the West. I would say way more than the standard V70 which I see very few of. There are also a fair number or 'V70R' and V70 AWD's here too. I don't think Volvos are the Volume vehicles they were. When Volvo decided to 'go upmarket' with their models and partic...

Re: Is rust a common issue on XC70 front fenders?
Two sets of MY2005 fenders I have, got almost no rust. Very little rust around frontend anyways. Rear fenders is another story.
Get a replacement, soak rust-prone spots with cavity wax. I like Noxudol 700. Will not rust.

Re: Reconnecting a battery...
OK, thanks. I see the subject of replacing the little thermistor in the climated module gets a lot of ink online, some have "suggested" I guess, that it got damaged by connecting the battery without having the key in POs II. I do hope it's just a myth as I've disconnected/reconnected the ...

Re: 2007 XC70 timing belt change. Do-able at home?
It would be due up at 215,000 miles, so another year of driving is ok. There is a lot of safety margin on these belts. The US version that is warranty for 150,000 miles uses exactly the same parts.
