When I'm searching for parts or videos for our 2007 XC70, most of the time I get few results although eventually there are a few with a bit more digging.
Parts seem to be scarcer than other models.
Are XC70s so much less common than say sedans of the same years to the point that there are much fewer resources?
Are XC70s less common than other Volvo models?

Parts are scarce for both of my cars in Canada. Now that the border is open I buy 100% of my parts (except emergency items) from the USA. Sales figures were and continue to be incredibly low in Canada for Volvo passenger vehicles.
Yes I would agree the S60 is more well-documented online. But with so many similarities in the chassis, it's easy to transfer that information to the XC. Is there something in particular you're not finding? VolvoXC.com has a good resource section, and previous forum posts. But the forum is now dead with little to no new content being posted there. VIDA is also mandatory if you plan on doing any work to your cars. It takes a lot of the guesswork out.

There are a fair few XC70 P2's over in the West. I would say way more than the standard V70 which I see very few of. There are also a fair number or 'V70R' and V70 AWD's here too.
I don't think Volvos are the Volume vehicles they were. When Volvo decided to 'go upmarket' with their models and particularly their pricing, I think they have lost a lot of former customers. $85k CDN for an XC40 Recharge?? Seriously that is nuts. The XC40's when they came out in 2018 (?) started just under $40k CDN. Now you are lucky to get one under $60k!! Since when is an SUV the size of a Toyota RAV4/Honda CRV worth that sort of money?? I for one could no longer even consider a new Volvo at the prices which is a brand I could afford maybe 10 years ago new. They also do not have anything that I can see that makes them better than anything else out there for a whole lot of money less.

They are no doubt less common down here in southeast. I see many more S60s and XC90s than I do P2 wagons. When I lived in Western Massachusetts the salvage yards always had a handful of P2s.

Around Boston XC70 is prevalent now. I see less XC90s and much less S60. V70 is almost extinct. P3 is also nearly extinct. I totally get that, because XC70 is a superior North East winter beater. If not the third kid and reliability concerns (due to age), I'd say XC70 is a better fit for the family of 4 than Toyota Sequoia that has no trunk space.
