Re: V70 2.5T AWD 2004 Only rough idle; all else is super.
The steady idle at 680 RPM suggests that the ECU isn’t compensating for misfires or leaks, so it’s probably something affecting the vibration or fuel-air mix rather than a major mechanical fault.

Re: Replaced front O2, immediate misfires, high trim. Diagnostic help?
So, smoke tested. Big leak in exactly the pipe suspected, all the way around the back where it's hard to feel/see. I guess I must have applied some pressure while I was in there in a way that caused it to crack. :-/ Also, leaking seals around the injectors, which is disappointing because I replaced ...

Re: breather box?
The problem is most of the Volvo techs have never worked on cars that old! Most were not even born when they left a dealer. In their defense, they know the car will likely have crumbly rubber pipes/hoses and parts that may be fragile. It can become a can of worms for them so they basically make up i...

Re: Your high mileage badge value just went up
They don't need to have good PR. They are only happy selling us $500 parts that are NOS and 20 years ago that cost $50 when they were made!

Re: Front axle replacements for P2 (2002 V70 XC)
Just went through this scenario a few weeks ago and ended up just getting a GKN replacement axle. I've had okay experience with 1Aauto in the past for other vehicles (not axles). Their sway bar end links are absolute crap, they'd fail within 6 months to a year. The overall consensus it seems is if y...

Re: breather box?
As your car is a non-turbo (OP PM'd me to clarify), then the only issue they have are a couple of vacuum hoses that can get disconnected. Those small hard pipes had rubber elbows that can rot out, but all that hoses is to stop the cold start valve in the air box operating. The other issue is if the ...

Re: What year XC70 should I get as a daily?
The least troublesome P2 wagon for me was 02 V70 with no AWD and basic NA engine. Both 05 XC70s I've had were money pits. One is still up and running, but everything in it has been fixed or replaced, and sometimes more than once.

Re: 2004 XC70 tailgate latch problem
I have encountered the opposite: my latch would not latch. I would slam my trunk and it would just bounce. I'm not sure if this would help, but someone in the past said that hitting it with a wrench like a carburetor would fix it. Sure enough, it did... sort of. Worked for a few tries but didn't sta...

Re: Volvo XC90 adaptive headlight malfunction - Right
Solved - I got this solved by going after the engine fuse box after extensive check and realize a power is not coming to to the one side of the headlamp socket, and it was fuse 48. someone pulls it out from it position and leave that side empty. so when i put another fuse there, the error code went ...
