Spraying them with WD40 or silicon oil helps loosen the wire spring which can get dirty or slightly rusted in place. You did the only thing you can to loosen them. Thankfully it worked!

Well, the problen turned out to be much simpler than tearing my driveshaft out. My aftermarket firewall upper torque mount was too short, causing the bolt to not line up correctly between the torque arm and the forward bushing. Whenever the engine would shift, like changing gear, or my foot going on...

Splice in some NiCopp and your life will be easy - its really nice stuff to work, the cost of line plus flaring tool is 1/10 the cost of the previously purchasable fuel line.
