Interesting stuff on IPDUSA website

Post by scot850 »

I was checking on the 'deals' on IPD's website. Having gone through my spares cache, I realize I have stuff which may be of little use as they have not got gaskets to mount them. For things like the CVVT solenoid and ETM I have no problem using the aftermarket ones at a fraction of the Volvo prices. That way I can buy a few for the cache.

While in there I saw, what were to me, newer products I did not know existed, and I'm thrilled to see them:

1) https://www.ipdusa.com/products/22580/D ... vo-9463300

A later model prop-shaft! Wow. Price is not horrendous either.

2) https://www.ipdusa.com/products/9792/In ... vo-9140663

I knew these existed, the intermittent wipe function for the front wipers. I also knew it had been discontinued. Question: How does it work and how do you adjust the sweep rate? Can it be done on the fly?

3) https://www.ipdusa.com/products/23453/F ... vo-9470674

AWD fuel pump assembly complete!! Wow!! Price is not terrible either if it works. Sale price is $130 US. This one is for you Abscate!!

4) https://www.ipdusa.com/products/7525/Tr ... vo-9470836

Lower torque mount for a P80 AWD!! Again a long un-available part.

Now if any of these parts work well then for us AWD guys these are a god send!

Wow, it was quite a few years ago the original owner retired and sold it to the WPD folks. They also pulled in selling Suburu parts as well. I like to think that it helps with scale but not entirely sure about some of the parts quality. I may have wrongly attributed early failure of IPD swaybar HD end-links to poor quality. My Volvo mechanic friend says it is often lazy mechanics using impact guns undoing the end-link nuts and not using a counter lever. This spins the threaded stud so fast it melts the nylon cup in the ball socket and makes them loose. Now if that happened in my case not sure, but the car had been at Volvo for sub-frame mounts................!

Now the failed sparkplug IPD HD coil pack after about 6 months is another issue along with the stupid non-greaseable poly bushes on their swaybar needing greased every 6000 miles.........

Regarding the adjustable sweep rate wiper relay, I remember reading about some people successfully using VW relays to achieve that. There was a sequence to adjust the rate.
I'll have to see if I can find the thread again

The wiper mod uses a delay relay common
to a number of European cars. It’s designated
“99” and is a Plug-N-Play swap.
The delay time is set by turning the wipers
on, then back off at the desired delay length.
When you turn them back on, they sweep at
that delay length.
They‘ll reset to default when the ignition is
turned off. Nice, easy Mod. 👍

Here’s an example on eBay:

Should be an easy JY pick.
