Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Glad the grandson is carrying on this craft! We need skilled people who rebuild things, too many cheap operations going on now. For example, every cheap reman part at the auto parts stores. There's a place local to me well known among car communities. I wonder if it's because ordering parts is more...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Skandix have been finding alternate parts for older Volvo's for years. Generally speaking their parts are good. As to the other option it would be good to know for the older P80's (850's) if the VW/BMW part works as well as it may give as an option going forward. Not sure what that price translates...

Fuel Pressure Regulator equivalents

EDIT: Parts are listed for Volvo 850s but do not fit my fuel rail. This style is much larger. Researching the fuel pressure regulator, both N/A And Turbo cars use a 3.0 bar 1:1 rising rate fuel pressure regulator. For the rail mounted regulator, I couldn't find it on FCP euro, and while digging for ...

What is the rising rate on an FPR?

Is it the ratio of the change in fuel pressure to the range in manifold pressure?
Yes. 1:1 means the pressure change is direct. Vacuum lessens fuel pressure and boost adds fuel pressure.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

I won't be doing it myself but I'll pass that along. Searching for 850 dashboard repair does bring up a swede speed forum post detailing how to repair with fiberglass so there's that. The main reason I'm having an experienced professional handle it is that it is much, much worse than simply a case o...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

A deal looking too good to be true just popped up on marketplace in my area. '96 850R sedan. Red with a beige interior. There are already red flags but it's too tempting not to look at. Mold on the interior could be a bad sunroof seal but that combined with rusty valve cover bolts and valve cover co...

Where do you get a replacement for the ECT connector?

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

For a bunch of reasons (paint shop needing the thing rolling, etc) I'm going for a cheap used hub. That'll do until I replace the bearings, boots, and control arms as a set soon-ish

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

Now that I'm paying closer attention to Robert's video on the wheel bearing and reading other threads I'm now considering that the lugs snapped because of a bad bearing. Sound before it happened is exactly as in his video.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?

From what I know watching too much of a certain kind of video youtube barely tolerates Hot, high pressure gasses have an erosion effect, and any type of debris in the valve face would cause a break in the seal where combustion gasses would leak through. These gasses would slightly wear away at the m...
