Re: ‘99 S70 Wrong cylinder head?
Thanks for all the responses! The ‘Bastards’ thread is a goldmine of information. TBH I thought the ‘99 S70 would be nearly identical to the 850’s but I’ve learned they are almost completely different. Especially frustrating is the horrible chipped key anti-theft mess. It’s a good thing the new-to-m...

Re: 98 S70 T5 Head gasket replacement cost
Just a personal opinion - I wouldn’t do a head gasket repair without getting the cylinder head surfaced. Make sure the shop knows to NOT mess with the cam side. When I take one in I always mention it.

Re: 1999 S70 - Auction Rescue
Update 4 Recently I learned either my borescope is useless, or I can’t see well (or interpret what I see?). I went ahead and pulled the cylinder head, because why not? I have looked, photographed, videoed and looked again, and I don’t see a crack anywhere. But the head gasket was definitely blown. I...

Re: MVS Forums: what would you like to see?
Encourage users to not post repair information in the “What did you do today…” threads. I wonder how much great information is lost in these thousands of pages. Start a new thread.

99 S70 Heater Hose Upgrade
99 S70 Heater Hose Upgrade In the process of doing a head gasket repair on my 1999 S70 GLT B5254 I decided to upgrade all of the coolant hoses, gaskets and seals. I ordered a silicone hose kit from G-Plus but it doesn’t include heater hoses… IMG_2762.jpeg … So I ordered the do-kit126R heater hose k...

Re: Volvo wiring diagrams ...where to find.... (update DEC 2021)
Maybe I’m going against the DIY spirit but I signed up and bought the Wiring Diagrams and Technical Journals subscriptions from Volvo; https://www.volvotechinfo.com/ The wiring diagram was a few dollars and I downloaded a car-specific pdf for future use. Even if it wasn’t reasonably priced it still ...

Re: Volvo wiring diagrams ...where to find.... (update DEC 2021)
Here is the Component List for my '99 S70. I don't imagine the 00-04 cars are a lot different. I suspect the component numbering is probably an ISO standard like relay terminal numbering, but I haven't been able to verify. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1INo8FSBpj64CMqNG44EHIZDWneIMItAZ?usp=...

Re: Question for the ETM and ME7 experts - RESOLVED
I replaced the ETM with a third unit and the problem seems to be resolved. I’m still getting the older Xemodex unit from scott850, because frankly I don’t trust the OEM ones. To recap for those that don’t want to read through the entire thread; car ran good for a few minutes on startup but shortly a...

Re: '99 C70 Cruise Control Fuse Doesn't Seem to Exist ?
The 99 MY with Bosch ME7 engine control achieves cruise control via the Electronic Throttle Module. There is no separate relay or vacuum servo.
