Recap of my Sunday project: My V70 has the dreaded driver side door catch damage. Weld spots in A Pillar failed and pre owner apparently tried to weld it before. It was time to do something about it. Today I have turned to this task again and indeed found the LED polarity wrong ... So, good hint!
Resoldered and will test tomorrow.

After I have corrected the polarity the reader works fine.
I have put together some footage below and again thank you all for supportive input.
