Re: Buying (maybe) Volvo 850 1996
I managed to remove the PCV system without breaking it! (well that one vacuum line was pre-broken) https://i.imgur.com/AHR3DDFh.jpg But then I managed to break the plastic pipe going from the oil trap to the throttle body. But I think I can replace it, perhaps with a steel pipe instead. Already got ...

Re: How do you get the d**n bulbs out? MCC, Volvo 850 '97
I have figured it out, it's dark every day I get home and I have to work by shoddy lights but I found plastic tabs holding a circuit board in place. Remove that board and the lamps are easy to remove! You can see photos in this german forum https://volvo.reparaturanleitung.info/volvo/index.php?threa...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Well I fixed the heater fan that wasn't running on 4th speed. Turns out it was a relay and not the resistor, shoulda looked at a wiring diagram before replacing the resistor... Well a cheap general switching relay fit the original relay exactly so I happened to have one of those at home and now the ...

Re: Rebuilding and painting my calipers
Not for a Volvo but I've refurbed brake calipers. Electrolysis is what I use to get the rust off. It takes mostly time to let it work.

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
Hello Dennis, I see your 850 is coming along nicely! Love that color. I am curious about the brackets for your aux. high beams. Long time ago I think Volvo had something available, but I was thinking of maybe fabricating something. Would you be able to share some details of how you mounted them? Th...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I removed the blower fan last night because it's not working properly, was entirely dead on Monday morning (fortunately there was enough self-draft to keep the windows clear), then it worked again when I went home. https://i.imgur.com/BXnfBaAh.jpg Looks like things have gotten hot here before https:...

Re: Urgent Help Finding Oil Leak
Your leak is 90% likely behind the distributor IMO. Likely the blown seal is caused by the PCV valve as has been said. I recently serviced the PCV system and replaced that seal on my car when I bought it. It is an annoying operation with lots of hard to reach bolts to remove the intake. I would not ...

Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I did the SAS bypass on the ECM. I've left the whole pump assembly in place. Not sure I need to do anything with it, perhaps disconnect the relay.

Re: Car almost stopped on the road, '97 855
OK I am pretty sure I found the error. When I removed the distributor cap I found the rotor was loose, only attached by one screw! https://i.imgur.com/vB4WIAnh.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QLmw5rgh.jpg Inside of the distributor cap looks like this. https://i.imgur.com/5jpaiY7h.jpg So I am pretty sure thi...
