P80 PCV System Repair on a Volvo 5-cylinder (-1998)
**A printable PDF of this procedure can be downloaded here:** PCV repair.pdf As any engine runs, there are gases from the top of the cylinders that escape past the piston rings and into the crankcase system. These gases are illegal in most countries to vent into the atmosphere. Therefore, some kind ...

Re: drivers window stuck in down position
It's usually the contacts in the switch go bad. If you can pry up the panel, you can get to the wires underneath. (I'm not sure what exactly that entails on an 850 as the switches are in the console, but it's very easy on my model). Pull out the ones for the drivers door switch and touch them to the...

Re: Home Made Short Ram Intake
Very nice! You should take a video of the sound. I've always wanted mine to sound as cool and throaty as the NA engines

Re: Vacuum Hose Sizes, Total Lengths, and Sources?
Yes. You may want to get about 8 feet for that alone - I used 3/16" line and got 10 ft and had 2 or 3 left over that I used other places.t5ftw wrote:I assume the hoses connected to TCV are all 4 mm, correct?
The purge valve hoses I don't know about - I'd suspect 6 if the brake booster hose is 8.

Re: Vacuum Hose Sizes, Total Lengths, and Sources?
Oh hey.
All the lengths you'll need! For a turbo anyway.

Re: oil collecting in lower intercooler hose
Keep in mind there is still tons of oil in the hoses. It is not going to make a difference right away; and it's possible that your hose from the PTC back to the oil trap (or the oil trap itself) is still clogged. I would remove the intercooler hoses and wash them and the intercooler out. Dawn or Cas...

Re: 1996 850 Brake Lights Don't Work
There's plastic tabs on the bottom and top. Squeeze the bottom ones in with a knife/screwdriver and wiggle it downwards, and it'll come right out of the bracket.

Re: Need to RE-CONNECT disconnected vacuum line
Oh, I'm wrong all the time. Hope this one helps. The white vac line runs from the back of the airbox to the vacuum tree The black line runs from the back of the airbox to the front of it at the bottom (where the air intake from the grill attaches to the airbox, just above the intake port) - it contr...

Transmission being funny on freeway...
Hmmmm. Pull up with your toe on the brake pedal and set the cruise. Does it stay on? I don't know if the 2000 model still has the brake switch with the vacuum line for the cruise control - but someone somewhere said that when you hit the brakes on the newer models, the transmission will unlock the t...
