SAS valve - where is it
Brought my 850 to the dealer as the engine light would not go out. Dealer wanted $710 to replace the air pump and SAS valve. I found the air pump location thanks to Jason R & Matt. However, I cannot seem to find the SAS valve. I figured I would spend the money on a new SAS valve first and then p...

I would strongly recommend changing out the pads while you have it apart, but if you decide not to change them; no adjustment of the caliper is necessary. Because the new rotors will be a little fatter than the rotors you remove (because of wear on the old rotor) you will need to compress the calipe...

1. No, front and rear can be done separately. 2. No, wheel bearing are generally changed only when they fail. 3. Springs are fine, unless you're looking for a performance or appearance upgrade 4. No springs in rear, just shocks and upper shock mounts 5. Probably the OEMs. I personally don't like the...

Rear End Suspension Link Replacement 3516122
**Editorial Note** This post was largely a "Stream of Conciseness" writeup and much of the original writeup can and should be ignored. There is, however, other very good information in the thread. As I’ve mentioned before, I have had a persistent “clunk” in my rear suspension and a “wande...

Joy of joys.. New stereo
Well, the first official "just for me" work I've done on the 850 was putting in the Alpine stereo I ordered through Crutchfield. It ended up being 150 bucks cheaper with all of the free 'throw-ins' at Crutchfield compared to my local Best Buy... I wanted a stereo to control my ipod, and so...

2001 S80 T6 Homebrew Strut Bar Modification
The stock "strut bar" on the S80 (and maybe some other models) is not really a strut bar at all, but part of a complicated engine mount system. It's very flexible in order to reduce the transmission of engine vibrations to the passenger area of the car. But it can be converted into a real ...

Re: Front Suspension - Quick Question!
1). Do I need to remove the spindle/hub from the control arm to remove the cv axle? I loosened the pinch bolt but didn't separate. You can separate it at the ball joint or remove the two bolts and remove the control arm from the frame. It comes down to what the condition of the control arm is. I ha...

S80 2001 T6 Spark Plug Replacement - How To
Here's how to replace the spark plugs in your 2001 T6. I got my genuine Volvo plugs from IPD for $52. I know there are some cheaper plugs out there, but with the amount of work this entails I decided to go with the real deal so I won't have to do it over (hopefully) in the near future. Tools and sup...
