Thanks. after tanking a mallet and big bertha chisel to the latch, I still was not able to open the latch. Took it to Aamco to try and air chisel it. The technition ended up lifting up part of the white plastic mechanism that operates the lock and was able to get the latch to release.

I just wanted to follow-up on this. I was successful in replacing the leaking flex pipe with a 3/8" hard line. Using a normal pipe cutter and a rented flange and bending tool from at autozone, and lots of elbow grease, I got it done. For anyone attempting this fix, be advised the hard P/S line ...

I will answer my own question. Through some trial and error, since it was not in the manual, I discovered the control for the nav screen on the back of the steering wheel. I was able to turn the system off, and it appears it will stay off until and unless I ever want to use it.
