Re: 2000 V40 - blower replacement?
To answer my own question. One must loosen the dashboard to get the fan out, but it doesn't have to come all the way out. It's just to make a little more clearance. It's up behind that lower kick panel just like every other Volvo I've seen. But, in my case, it wasn't a blower problem, per se. It was...

Re: Exhaust manifold to catalytic converter nuts and studs rust welded
Just to add a side of fries to this excellent discussion on how to deal with hopeless levels of rust. The penetrating oil you want for tasks like this is called Kroil. It comes as a straight liquid, or as a straight aerosol, or as an aerosol that also deposits silicone lubricant after it evaporates....

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
Did you do a write up or use another link somewhere for reference? If so can you provide that? I followed this guide. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/refurbish-a-volvo-turbo/ The header paint was my idea. I also ran a tap through all the holes, and ran a die down all the bolts. That's an aftermar...

2006 S60 2.5T AWD: turbo rebuild notes
Making a separate thread of this, because it's basically an addendum to the existing guide for doing a turbo rebuild yourself. Here's the existing guide: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/refurbish-a-volvo-turbo/ The original author, Peter - and, thank you - sourced a used turbo, rebuilt it, and the...

Re: New Part or Hokey? - 02 XC70
Contacts have definitely been used. Someone bought a new part, put their old one in the box, and returned it to get their money back. Someone at RockAuto screwed up and didn't notice, or didn't care. You got blatantly ripped off and I'd be lighting up the Better Business Bureau's phones like a Chris...

Re: Cooling system clogged?
I would call that a hot reading, though, not bad just yet. It's in no way severe enough to cause such overpressure that coolant seals break. There may be an engine tear-down in the future, but, it's not related to your radiator leak. I would still plan to do a dry and wet compression test, to ascert...

Re: I am having trouble starting my 2003 S60 2.4L non-turbo
Sounds to me like he pinched part of the wiring harness doing the work, and now it's intermittently shorting to ground.

Re: What did you do to your P2 Volvo today?
My ceramic sockets have pigtail wire ends. Consensus is it necessary to solder/heatshrink these connections or would a simple crimp butt connector work ? If you don't want to solder and heatshrink itself, use "Heat Shrink Solder Sleeve Butt Connectors" (just search Amazon for that). It do...
