1998 V70 P0455 Evaporative Emission Control fault
Dealing with the P0455 code, I found the following information from the Volvo OEM service manual, which helps trouble shooting the code, without changing parts just cause. Toward the end of this post, the sequence for the EVAP leak test is described. Keep in mind that the error code numbers mentione...

1998 V70 AWD P0455 P0440 P0442 Fix with Photos
Hey all-- Finally got fed up with the host of evap codes on my 1998 V70 AWD and went ahead and replaced the canister hoses, rollover valve hoses, purge valve (and surrounding hoses), and the three inches of rubber line connecting the small vent filler tube to the hard plastic line coming from top of...

Re: Door lock problems
So I do not have actual pics of the pin, I didn't take any previously when I figured it out and right now all the actuators I have in the garage have the pin broken off. But I took some pics to try to describe clearly how to figure out if the pin is broken, and where the pin is located. Keep in mind...

SC-901 + JVC Taiyo Yuden = TRUE
I just wanted to share that I've finally found a burn cd that can be read by the SC-901 3 cd disc changer :) Tried several brands without success but these where the only ones that worked for me. May be common knowledge but for me it was a Eureka moment. Here's a link to the CDRs : https://www.amazo...

DIY: 1998 S70 GLT AC Pulley Bearing (also Alternator and PS Pump) procedure OK, My 1998 S70 GLT AC Pulley Bearing with 185K miles has been making some faint noise for the last 2 years, I know the AC pulley has been free-wheeling for 2 years. People in the forum say the Zexel compressor should last ...

Re: DIY: 1998 S70 GLT AC Pulley Bearing (also Alternator and PS Pump) procedure
Having refurbed 2 850 systems this summer, I will suggest removing the compressor to get at the clutch. One thing cn90 confirms is that the pulley is very robust, made of hard steel and will withstand some serious prying. With my compressor on the bench, using 3 5mm bolts actually did work, but ther...

$15 Cargo Cover for V70 DIY
My recently acquired 1998 V70 did not come with a retractable cargo cover. I have seen cargo covers for 2001 and later V70s, but none for mine. These things also seem to be priced awfully high for what is essentially a window shade. Well, anyway, I don't have a garage and have been working on the ca...

Re: 2000 V70 RH door mirror problem
Well I found the problem! The gray wire feeding the power for the X-axis (left-right) motion was broken less then 2" from the connector on the door side. It meant a whole lot of extra work to fix it but it is now working again for now! One concerning thing is I took the end piece of the 'sacrif...
