Re: Buying a 780 Bertone?

The 87-90 v6 is the thoroughly revised engine that has troughs in head so the cams dip through oil and no longer wear out lobes. It also has the LH fuel systm and computerized ignition. BUT, they have timing chain cover leaks and other issues. The turbo 4 swap makes that a far better car with much b...

Re: '09 XC70 Hydro Tailgate -- intermittent opening AND closing (on my head)

If the cylinder is the issue it would most likely be an issue all the time once the piston seal failed. The start would be fluid level check. On that car the pump should be in left quarter behind the wheel up high. The solenoid on the pump assembly could have some little piece of debris that sticks ...

Re: '09 XC70 Hydro Tailgate -- intermittent opening AND closing (on my head)

little tidbit: the solenoid opens the fluid flow path to and from cylinder. The pump motor runs CW and CCW to determine whether it goes up or comes down. The flow reverses "polarity" and that determines whether the cylinder gets fluid applied to base to extend and open which sucks fluid fr...

Re: Brakes Not Working When Turning On My S60 2007

If you turn ignition on but do not start engine you should be able to push and release brake pedal 2-4 times and then you should hear the vacuum pump run for 3-10 seconds and then go off. Pushing brake twice should make the pump run. The switch is behind left headlight with two wires in a brown conn...

Re: 2003 V70 T5 Engine rebuild project

81mm bore with 90 mm stroke is the 2.3 litre that went in use in 1994 with turbo. 83mm bore with 90 mm stroke is the 2.4 NA motor that became the LPT in 1997 in 850. 83mm bore with 93.2 mm stroke is the 2.5 litre that was a LPT until the R models of 2004-2007. There were several low pressure and mid...

Re: 1998 V70R Slight Rod Knock and lifter Tick

That is an easy one as the pan is not hard to remove and FCP has rod bearings for $50 ish. The oil pan is sealed with Anaerobic sealer and the rod bolts are reuseable. You won't know until you remove rod caps if the problem is minor and it requires cleaning crank and rod installing new bearings. If ...

Re: Releasing fuel lines at pump 1998 v70awd How?

Get some flat piece of metal strap 5/8 to 3/4 wide and no more than 1/8 thick but it is better if 1/16 thick. Aluminum or steel. Drill a 7 /16 hole in one end right at the end. Once drilled cut through the drilled a bit off of center towards end of the piece. Dress the end with file so the opening i...

Re: Can you switch door lock cylinders between driver and passenger side

The lock cylinders are the same only the levers for linkage have the R and L difference. Remove the E clip and swap levers and you're good to go.

Re: Volvooempartsdirect is pulling their ad here at MVS

They do. McDonald's in your neck o' the woods is a Volvo standards store. The west Houston (Katy) dealer that opened recently is also one. There are several out there now and you will see more and more as they get renovated or built. http://www.volvocarsfacilitydesign.com/assets/file/vre-animation.h...

Re: '09 XC70 Hydro Tailgate -- intermittent opening AND closing (on my head)

There is an assist motor and cable the finishes the close of latch and begins the opening due to the hydraulic cylinder having poor leverage when the tailgate gets down. What you see is expected if the hydraulics don't take over once the latch open/close assist step completes.
