Re: P2 clutch job..hanging the engine
Are you sure you would need two hangers? Put the HF tool in between the two (Fore and Aft) and the chains will balance them out evenly distributing the weight. On the V70 I used just one HF hanger. I used two however on the XC90 but that's because the engine is a V8 and huge.

Re: P2 clutch job..hanging the engine
I don't honestly remember 100% if I dropped the sub frame or not. sorry. I recall the manual trans being just not that big and not that heavy when compared to the automatic I pulled. Also The HF hanger comes with the chains so you wont need any other hanging parts. I also used a cheap crank up Trans...

Re: Learning's from trying to buy an XC90
I bought mine off a private party for under 2K. Needed some work and tires for another 2K (and my labor). Seems to me like you'd be better off buying from a private party versus dealers and auctions. The dealers markup does not guarantee you wont have problems. Auctions you may not get to drive it e...

Re: AW55-50SN woes-easy to repair?
On a C70, I too figured out that using air to clear the filter works. Then once driving it clogged again. I gave up after that and swapped the transmission out. I never thought about finding a solvent to cure the issue. You have a great idea to try and dissolve the material clogging the filter. Perh...

Re: AW55-50SN woes-easy to repair?
Crazy... but... How about drill into the housing near filter, tap a thread there to use as a plug later after getting a flexible magnet recovery tool in there then insert bolt/plug. Obviously a chemical to dissolve the clog is still best.

Re: AW55-50SN woes-easy to repair?
I will check what configuration would be needed (and possibility of success) from observation of the bench transmission later. that said, off the top of my head, I think not due to required hard jog right to hit the screen.

Re: Quickjack system
Often that type of lift configuration prevents exhaust, trans., steering rack, etc work from being done. Good for brakes, tires, and oil changes.

Re: XC90 V8 Intermittent fuel pressure cutout
If you are speaking about the creak/squeak sound no that does not sound normal - but does not sound serious either. Sounds like something needs a shot of WD40. I do have a 06 XC90 V8.

Re: steering rack replacement
It is very doable. I have done it in a driveway. I am no super-mechanic by any means. The hard part for me was everything falling onto my face. Wear googles. Oil, road soil, rust, etc. Big mess and uncomfortable. Not a fun job by any means. Unlike many jobs where you can stand part time this is all ...
