Driver Information Module (Instrument Cluster) repair options?
Hi everyone, My DIM is going bad, likely due to bad solder joints. I'm wondering what experience any of you have had with these, or ther repair shops? I've got the skill, but not the time and proper solder tips, and I'm, not willing to risk a slip and face the wrath of SHMBO if I goof and have to pa...

Re: Clicking driver's side door module
I had the same issue. I disassembled the door module, looked over the circuit board, and could not find any obvious visible issue (like swolen capacitors or overheated parts. I took a chance that the relay was going bad, found a replacement for like $2.00, and replaced it. No dice. problem is somewh...

Re: Front Strut replacement recommendations and gotchas?
Well, I got the new strut assemblies in from 1AAuto. Not too bad, but boy if you're not careful you'll need new brake lines. I'm really glad I had my boys there to assist with another set of hands. I decided not to replace the sway bar end links, as the ones in there aren't that old and they felt pr...

Re: VIDA DICE purchase
Hi Limabean! I just did the same thing a little over a year ago for my 02 V70 2.4T. Found a DiCE module on eBay for about $75, then the fun began. It helps that I work with computers for a living. Short answer to your first question is: Yes, the computer is required while you use the VIDA applicatio...

Re: V70 II dashboard doesn't show speed, rpm etc.
Listen to Oragex. And if you do unplug it, make absolutely sure you disconnect the battery before you do, otherwise you'll end up with a false SRS error on the dash and you won't be able to get a safety inspection until that error is cleared....and you can't clear that without VIDA and a DiCE modul...

Re: VIDA DICE purchase
Yeah, I agree that it is all over the place, but if you go through that MVS VIDA Forum thread I posted above, it has pretty much everything you need to get VIDA going...and if you get stuck, there are plenty here who can help you.
Cheers!

Re: Driver Information Module (Instrument Cluster) repair options?
Well, in case anyone is interested, it's been 2 years and nine months, or roughly 31,000 miles since I replaced the DIM.
Everything in the DIM still seems to work great.
Hope this is helpful.

Re: '02 V70 (Timing Belt parts question)
My local shop just did mine at just under 290k on my 2002 V70 2.4T. no issues so far. I would have done it myself, but time, space, and comfort were factors. I really couldn't afford to make a mistake, and Volvo is almost all my guys do, and I've trusted them for almost 15 years with that car for th...
